Coach Ian Strelsin

Coach Strelsin is the assistant junior varsity coach. He's a member of the Houston High School class of 2000, the first of Coach McCarter's graduating classes. Ian received a bachelor's degree in Information Technology Management from Christian Brothers University in May of 2004. At Christian Brothers, he was a four year starter and led the Buccaneers in seven offensive categories while hitting .381 with a slugging percentage of .549 and an on base percentage of .479. His swings produced 67 hits and 5 home runs.

While all this was going on, he also spent the 2003 and 2004 seasons as the Memphis Redbirds' bullpen catcher (the Redbirds are the AAA affiliate of the National League champion St. Louis Cardinals). He also served as the bullpen catcher for the Pacific Coast League's 2003 All-Star game at AutoZone Park, televised on ESPN2.

In the summer of 2003 Strelsin was invited to participate with the first American delegation of college baseball players to visit and play internationally on the island of Aruba.

Coach Strelsin brings an extensive knowledge of the game back to Houston to go along with the discipline and enthusiasm instilled into him while in high school and in college. He works with the ServiceMaster family of companies as a computer technician and network administrator.
