Coach Collins Day

Coach Day came to Houston High School when Coach McCarter was named Houston's head coach in 1999, leaving his position as JV Head Coach at Germantown to help his college teammate build a national program. As a high school student, Collins played football and baseball at Germantown. The teams finished second in the state in 1991 in both sports. He chose baseball over football and played at the University of Memphis with his fellow coaches and closest friends, Coach McCarter, Coach Fenton and Coach O'Keefe.

After his sophomore season at the U of M in 1994, Day was named an All-American, going 12-0 on the mound and hitting .303 with seven home runs. His wife, Kelly, is a very successful businesswoman and is the greatest wife and mother a man could ask for. Their son, Chandler Jackson Day, was bon on March 9, 2006. Day's parents, Larry and Betty, live in Bartlett, Tennessee. His older sister is the mother of two and his younger brother lives in New York and is one of the Blue Men of the off-Broadway show Blue Man Group.

Coach Day teaches physical education at Oak Elementary in Bartlett. The school is on of the top elementary schools in the state. Coach Day loves his family and friends and has a strong passion for teaching kids, especially baseball.

"I learned early in my coaching career that kids don't care about how much you know until they realize how much you care. Parents and fans will always question the calls Coach Mac and I make on the field but they should never question how much we care about their sons."
